This role provides very specialized Wi-Fi network design services as part of customer network planning, engineering design and implementation of Consumer and Business Wi-Fi networks 

 

Job Responsibilities:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Acts as the subject matter expert (SME) on Wi-Fi network design and optimization
Maximizes Wi-Fi network performance through ongoing monitoring and troubleshooting. Investigating faults in the network, provide root cause analysis and recommendations
Updating network equipment to the latest firmware releases
Works closely with Sales Solution Specialists to understand Customer needs on coverage, capacity, reliability
Clearly articulates the capabilities and constraints of the standard Wi-Fi products and services to Sales and Customers
Analyzes our customer Wi-Fi needs with Solution Specialists, Customers, and Install Technicians / contractors
Creates Wi-Fi Network Designs to deliver Wi-Fi solutions that meet or exceed our customers’ needs and expectations
As required, performs remote or on-premise Wi-Fi site surveys including RF planning, identifying AP locations 
Disciplined in following strict change management procedures when on-boarding new customers and devices. Diligently follows Methods of Procedures (MOPs) from Wi-Fi Architect
Monitors consumer Wi-Fi network health and takes steps to isolate root causes for specific customer or cross- customer issues
Provides third line support for customers’ Wi-Fi issues
Provides input to Engineering team on new product features or improvements as gathered from customers and Sales
Creates custom Wi-Fi designs and corresponding Bill Of Materials (BOMs) for significant customer quotes
Provides on-site Wi-Fi break/fix for major or systemic customer issues as required including root cause analysis
Ensures implementation and maintenance processes are developed according to standards and handed over to Operations on time
Communicates and interacts with the Network Monitoring Center in ON and QC team when incidents and problems occur
Communicates and interacts with Call Center staff to improve efficiencies between the teams

 

 

Job requirements:

WORK EXPERIENCE

10+ years’ relevant experience is required
5 years’ hands-on experience with Wi-Fi, Internet, and telecommunications technologies
3 years’ experience designing enterprise Wi-Fi networks
Technology experience includes Physical and Logical Wi-Fi Network Design, LAN, switch, bridging and routing protocols
Experience with multiple Wi-Fi hardware vendors including Aruba (HPE) and Cisco as well as authentication systems

 

SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
Solid knowledge of 802.11 Standards
Wi-Fi RF Planning and Design experience using AirMagnet (preferred) or other tools such as Ekahau 
Wi-Fi Diagnostic tools experience such as Viavi, Netscout, Ekahau
Adept at performing and documenting Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
Experience with Quality of Service (QoS) including VLAN priority, TOS, DSCP
Multicast (IGMP)
Network Security
Multimedia over Coax (MoCA), video compression (Digital Video Systems, Video Compression Technology, MPEG, AVC/H.264) beneficial
Excellent organizational and analytical skills
Strong project experience combined with excellent interpersonal and communications skills (verbal and written)
Experience with UNIX is an asset
General business and operational knowledge of broadband technologies (High Speed Data, VoIP)
Detail oriented with technical documentation skills
Ability to establish good working relationships with others
Experienced in effectively coordinating and executing multiple tasks simultaneously and efficiently while working with conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment
Self-motivated with the ability to take initiative in identifying and resolving problems independently.  Monitors own work for quality
Strong planning and troubleshooting skills. Ability to assess impact of decisions
Must have strong understanding of Google Apps
Must be able to multitask, and to manage conflicting priorities while ensuring that project deadlines are met
Accuracy and adherence to deadlines required and technical protocol.
A significant amount of time spent on a computer, and to work extended hours (including on-call). Required to operate office equipment
Experience using Google Workspace, LucidChart, Jira,, and Confluence beneficial
